Dr. Sherry Stine Collawn completed a combined MD-PhD program in medicine and biochemistry at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She continued her post-graduate training also at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she completed her plastic surgery residency. Subsequently, Dr. Collawn furthered her training in plastic surgery with fellowships in San Diego and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Collawn has co-authored over two dozen publications, and participated in the writing and presentation of numerous abstracts on topics ranging from facial wrinkles to laser resurfacing to wound healing. She has written plastic surgery editorials and reviews, and maintains affiliations with the following professional societies:

- The Society for Investigative Dermatology
- American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc.

Dr. Collawn has been featured in print articles in Cosmetic Surgery Times and MD News, and she has been the subject of three local news stories in Alabama. She also has been the principal investigator on five successful grant applications on various subjects, such as facial rejuvenation, chemical peels and reepithelialization.
